Canada Day – July 1, 2009

July 1st, or Canada Day, marks the birth of Canada as a country.  The first Canadian provinces united in 1867, laying the groundwork for the young country.  Being partly new here, it is always really nice to be involved and learn more about my adopted country’s history and people, and of course to be a small part of that.

That’s nice, you say – and what does that have to do with anything?  It means a chance to whip out my newly repaired camera for a few fresh pictures!  So go over to my photography gallery and check out the festivities!  There was quite a variety of entertainers this year in the annual parade.

Speaking of the annual July 1st Parade here in Halifax, this event doubles as the opening ceremonies to The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.  I have some pictures of this too!

Check out my post >here< for more information, and a list of the performers in both the parade and the Tattoo.
